Region VII Area Agency on Aging

Bay City, Michigan

Completion of our third major Design/Build for Region VII will be early October 2011. We began our relationship with Region VII in the winter of 2033 when we transformed an existing car dealership building into their new office building along with a garage for storage.

In 2005 a 2,720 s.f. addition was constructed to add a board room, mechanical room, and toilet rooms. This third project adds 6,532 s.f. for office expansion, file storage, a new entrance/storage room at the relocated board room, and a new large parking lot.

Interior renovations of the existing building were necessary to expand the lunch room and relocate the server room as well as other miscellaneous improvements all while keep Region VII fully operational.

The Salvation Army Bay City Corps and Community Center

Bay City, Michigan

Serenus Johnson’s Ken Pawlak was the project manager for the new 10,517 square foot Salvation Army Bay City Corps & Community Center at 401 Tenth Street in Bay City.  The new building was built to replace the 72 year old existing structure which is being moved to a new location in Bay City. The new masonry and steel structure contains a large kitchen, a 100 person capacity dining area, a food pantry, meeting rooms, classrooms, offices, and a 1,800 square foot chapel - all on a single floor for handicap accessibility.

The attractive exterior is a combination of brick and stone veneer.  Excavation for construction began in July 2010 with total projection completion in the spring of 2011.  The Salvation Army occupied the building and began serving meals on January 12th and hosted their first service on January 16th.  The $1.6 million project includes 2 new parking lots, curb and gutter, sidewalks, landscaping, and a new monument sign.  The grand opening celebration and open house was held Sunday February 20, 2011.

Veterans Administration Medical Center

Muskogee, Oklahoma

In an effort to broaden their markets and seek new opportunities Serenus Johnson Construction ventured to Muskogee Oklahoma in the fall of 2009 and winter of 2010 to complete a Design/Build project at the Jack C. Montgomery VAMC.

Serenus Johnson was the prime subcontractor of Mobile Medical International Corporation who provided two (2) mobile surgical units while the VAMC was undergoing major renovations/additions. Serenus Johnson Construction provided all elements of design/engineering and on-site work associated with the installation of a Serenus Johnson Portables corridor structure that connected the medical center to the mobile surgical units.

The scope of the work included: site work, concrete foundations/paving and retaining walls, a 900 s.f. Serenus Johnson Portables structure, all mechanical and electrical work, and all architectural work.
